Pizza Pizza

Well I was bored today so I figured I could try to make some of my own pizza dough, it actually went really well.

The crust was ok if i were doing it again I would have added maybe some more salt and an oregano basil mixture, but it was still good. It's really an easy recipe, it takes some time just because it has to rise but other than that all you do is throw the ingredients together. It makes two crusts- I did a margherita one for me and my mom and a pepperoni and onion for my dad and brother:

Pizza Dough:

1/4 c. warm water, I just used warm tap water

1 envelope active dry yeast

1 t. sugar4 c. bread flour

1/2 t. salt

1 1/4 c. cold water

1 T. olive oil

In the KitchenAid, mix the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for a few minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients, and run the mixer on low for 20 minutes, using the dough hook.Using a dash of olive oil, coat the outside of the dough so it does not stick to the bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean dry towel and let sit for 1 hour.Divide dough into 2 balls. Place each on its own baking sheet, and allow to continue rising for another 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 500 degrees.Spread cornmeal on each baking sheet. Using your hands, form each ball into pizzas, making sure the dough is even throughout. Cover with the topping ingredients.Bake for 15 minutes, and allow time for cooling

For the margherita:

2 fresh tomatos cut into slices

1 C. shredded fresh monzerella

1 medium onion cut into slices

3 large fresh basil leaves

3 cloves garlic

1t telicherey pepper

coat the pizza crust in olive oil then top with tomatoes. Saute the onions and garlic in olive oil until translucent, then spread over tomatoes, top with pepper then bake for 12 minutes, add basil when pizza is just out of the oven. enjoy!
